An atelier,
not an assembly line.
Velvetmane began in 2017 with one chair, one mirror, and a stubborn belief: that a haircut is architecture, and nobody should feel rushed inside it. Nine years later the room is bigger. The belief hasn't moved.
Our story
Slow room,
sharp scissors.
Founder Vivienne Moreau trained in Paris and spent a decade inside high-volume flagships before walking away from the conveyor belt. Velvetmane was designed as the opposite: one client per artist at a time, appointments with breathing room, and consultations that happen before scissors, not during.
Today twelve artists work the Greene Street floor — cutters, colorists, and stylists who train together monthly and argue, lovingly, about fringe geometry.
- One chair at a time — your artist is never double-booked.
- Consultation first — every first visit starts with a plan.
- Ten-day promise — complimentary refinements, always.
